2015 European Championship Men`s

2015 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP MEN`S WINNERS (FRANCE, AUSTRIA, BELGIUM & NORWAY)

12 National teams from throughout Europe were confirmed to play in the European Championship Men`s 2015, which started on 03 of July in Basildon, UK.

This year, teams were offered the opportunity to play the new M500 format. This new format sees a limit on the amount of paint used in the game and has no influence on other Tournament Regulations. According to M500 format, each player may have on the field only a loader and 2 pods full of paint. This gives the players a possibility to significantly reduce their expenses on paint.

There was a great prize for winners, provided by EPBF: the top 4 teams received the opportunity to fly to Malaysia to participate in the World Cup 2015 after the European Championship Men`s 2015! EPBF took the responsibility to cover the team’s flights, hotel accommodation, and the entry fee.

The teams were placed in three groups of four teams each, to play the remaining three in their group. The two best-placed teams from each group along with the two best-placed third place teams advanced to the Quarterfinals.

The seeding was prepared on the basis of the National teams participation and results in European Championship Men`s 2014.

National teams gave their fans many reasons to count down the minutes until the Semi-final games! Despite there being no surprises during the Preliminary games, spectators witnessed a lot of exciting moments during the Quarters.

Such countries as France, Russia, Germany and Great Britain were optimistic, as they came to Quarters from the top places in their groups, together with Norway and Belgium. But no one was expecting Poland and Austria to join this top-six as the wild card 3rd places!

Spectators strongly supported the UK National team, who were playing on their domestic field, but even that strong support did not lead the team into the semi-finals, Great Britain lost to Belgium 1: 4.

The spectators even jumped ahead momentarily when Austria defeated Russia 4-3 and threw them out of the Semis. Norway did just the same to Germany (4:2).

Probably for the first time in the European Championship history, the Semi-final games were exciting, hard and totally unpredictable. European Multi-Champion France snatched the final point from Germany during the overtime in a super-complicated battle (4:3). No one could predict the outcome of this game. Austria edged out Norway 4-3 in the same circumstances. Neither Germany nor Norway let their opponents to score easy points.

The French National team`s players were able to recover from setbacks and prepared themselves for the final game – they bet Austria 4:2 in Finals. Despite the loss to France, Austria took second place in the European Championship Men`s 2015.

We believe that France, Austria, Belgium and Norway will write a new chapter in their constantly evolving success story later this year when participating in the Official Paintball World Cup in Malaysia at the end of October!

As usual, we are grateful to all the participants: to the Millennium Series for the support provided for the European Championship organization, to National Teams and also to all the National Federations involved in the organization; and those who helped to produce the very best paintball atmosphere ever - THE SPECTATORS!

We are also grateful to the Euroref guys for their hard referee work.
