EPBF Championship Men`s 2012

Everyone on the site was waiting for the Championship......... while the National teams players were busy with their Millennium Series games, spectators and fans started their preparations well in advance. The conversations were about the most famous players, for what countries they played and who were the favourites for the Championships.

Fans kept their support hidden until the call for the National teams to be ready for their introduction to the crowds. Right after that spectators really got behind their teams with large and small national flags, inflatable sticks, funny hats, glasses, wigs, and the grandstands became awash with colour!

Top prize for the most magnificent decorations must go to the Irish fans!

21 National teams, dressed in their national jerseys, were presented to the crowd. Anthems were played, flags were waved and spectators joined in with the singing to show their support. A moment that each player will definitely remember!

Two days of the Championship flew by. Many times the grandstands exploded with cheers and countries names were chanted over and over at times of great play. Spectators witnessed the joys of victory, the sadness in defeat, the disappointment and moments of pure national pride. This is all but memories now for the players, but the winners are written in the Championship history!

When the winners lifted the European Champions Cup for Russia, it was an undoubted triumph for Maxim Preobrazhenskiy, who became the winner of the European trophy as coach. Russia overcame Great Britain, last years Champions, in an exciting Final but the defining matches were the Semi-finals featuring two of history's most famous games: Great Britain against France, and Russia against Germany.

We would like to congratulate all the participants, the National Teams and all the National Federations that were involved in the organization. Thanks must go to the Euroref guys and to the spectators!

Also we are grateful to the Millennium Series for the support provided for the European Championship organization.
