2016 World Cup Women`s

WORLD CUP WOMEN'S 2016 WINNERS!

Over a month has passed since the curtain came down on the Women’s World Cup 2016, but the stars that shone so brightly during the tournament continue to sparkle.

The majority of players who showcased their skills on the field in Bitburg in May are now back with their clubs, their minds still brimming over with treasured moments. And now 51 of them will have a new memory to cherish.

As we said before, the paintball is mostly a men`s sport. So what paintball means for our women? For them, the field is their place of work. It’s a professional context like any other.

May be there are not many women in paintball, but these women are strong, fast and incredibly dedicated. Their skills and abilities deserve our respect and their achievements are worthy of genuine attention.

Before our women teams had a chance to compete only for the European Champions title, but now everything has changed. The first ever official Paintball World Cup in Women`s category took place this year in Bitburg, Germany on 20-22 May.

Unfortunately for our sport, there are not many womens teams in the world. Except Europe, there are women teams existing in USA, Iran and Malaysia tha we know about, but they couldn`t manage to visit the World Cup tbis year.

So we had only 6 National teams from Europe were set to take part in the competition, including Russia, France, Great Britain, Germany, Poland and Norway. This year we also missed women teams from Netherlands and Turkey.

As usual women teams attracted the biggest amount of spectators in the stands – women and men, girls and boys, those who are already passionate supporters of women’s sport and those who have yet to discover how brilliant it can be.

Because we had only 6 teams, they were playing round robin in a group, so all the teams had 5 prelims games to play. After it was a final game for the 1st place. Guess who played for the 1st place? Having Russia and France in the group, no doubts they were competing for the Champion title in a final game! Russia was the European Champion in 2014, France got this title in 2013 and in 2015 ...

Looks like this year a Luck was on the side of Russian team! They They confidently won the final game with a score of 4:1. French ladies came second, and Norwegian beautifull ladies are third.

One win leads to another! Russian have already been the European Champions in 2014, now they have confirmed their status on the world level!

We cannot forget to say thanks to our guests, who produce the very best paintball atmosphere ever - THE SPECTATORS!

We also grateful to all the participants: to the Millennium Series for the support provided for the European Champ organization, to National Teams and also to all the National Federations involved in the organization and to Euroref guys for their hard referee work.

We are gratefull for the pictures to Beter Bourne (Great Britain) and Headshot Media Group (Russia).
